As part of our professional development and involvement in the ethical investment arena, ethicalfutures are members of the Ethical Investment Association (EIA). The association represents a group of financial advisers who specialise in ethical investment in the UK. The EIA meet quarterly to discuss developments in the markets, meet fund managers and researchers from ethical investment funds and other institutions and generally keep abreast of the current ethical issues.
Part of the EIA remit is also to lobby investment businesses to improve the clarity of their offerings and to focus more closely on the issues that our clients raise as areas of concern. We do this in conjunction with another organisation, UKSIF, which is more focussed on the investment industry. The EIA is very much a member group run for its members by its members; but somebody has to give it focus and this role falls to the members of the steering group who are elected to keep the EIA activities in line with its aims. I am pleased to say that ethicalfutures partner, Julian Parrott, has recently joined the steering committee and is now involved in organising the first Scottish Conference of the EIA to be held in June 2009.
