In these times of million pound bonuses to directors of ailing banks, it nice to hear a good news story about a bank. Triodos, the ethical bank, has just posted its 2008 results showing a significant growth in assets and a healthy 13% rise in profits.
Clearly more people are seeing to attraction of banking with a sustainable and responsible lender. Interestingly, Triodos have a system where the highest earner is paid no more than 7 times the salary of the lowest paid staff. In addition to this, bonuses as such don't exist, but staff do get lots of other opportunities to visit projects, volunteer, undertake personal and professional development and generally work together for the common good. Not surprisingly they have one of the highest staff retention rates in the sector.
